About this campaign

I’ll be spending my summer with Thighs of Steel, cycling 3,000km and climbing the equivalent of Everest 5 times potentially through a heatwave of 45 degrees. Mad? Terrifying? Perhaps, yes(!), but why?

Well, with Brexit, climate change, and more Brexit dominating the news headlines you could be forgiven for thinking the refugee crisis has disappeared. Alas there are still tens of thousands of people living in camps in Greece without food, water, shelter, education, and healthcare. That makes me sad and I want to continue to help....but how?

I've been asked to be part of the team running a part of the London to Athens bike ride I did a section of last summer. Over 5 weeks I'll be cycling from Bordeaux across the jagged peaks of the Pyrenees. From there we traverse France, drag ourselves over the mountain passes of the Alps into Italy. The Dolomites await us, and hopefully fuelled by the odd pizza and gelato we’ll make it to Trieste.

We are aiming to raise £50,000 for Help Refugees, a UK-based NGO which provides humanitarian aid to, and advocacy for, refugees across Europe.
